The Model Image For the Past 100 years

On March 23, 2010 A fundraiser for Harris Center, an institute at Massachusetts General Hospital that focuses on the treatment and prevention of eating disorders was held. Fashion Designer Michael Kors, Supermodel Natalia Vodianova and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, were some of the guest speakers that took there stand on the matter of models that battle with there health, weight and eating disorders. Not only was the models health also being discussed but also the age limit that the fashion industry needs to in force. That night Kors publicly announced that he will only use models above the age of 16 and that until they are 18 while need extra supervision. Since 1960's slowly Like the example of Twiggy a models weight has slowly shrinking and the ages of the models have been going done. At first these things were rarely seen but now they are completely common and is becoming a huge problem. The fashion council three years ago put out guidelines for healthy eating. Now that more people are publicly displaying that young sickly looking models is a big problem more designers are taking action and using more realistic healthy women that are adults and have a normal weight.
