Fashion Foward

On April 15, 2010 Target had a pop-up shop at 481 Eight Ave, NYC to show off the high end designer Zac Posen collection for Target. He has decide to link up with Target in order to make his collections available to a "larger demographic". The collection he has made for target is all available under the $100 price points. He also very well known for his dress that have been worn by fashionistas Rhianna, Natalie Portman and Naomi Campbell. He states that his line for target is a little bit Madonna, a little bit Tony Duquette, and a little bit Andy Warhol. I absolutely love Target and can spending hours walking around that store. I think that his designs are very create and modern looking. The cuts, designs and styles are amazing looking. Target has partnered up with the right designs and especially having Zac Posen join there team. I cant wait to go to a Target and try on some of his collection.
Side Teacher Note:
I got the article from the New York Post and for some reason its not letting me post the link into here

Fur: In the Line of Fire

A article posted in the Los Angeles Times on March 28, 2010 states a tribute to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or more commonly known as PETA, an organization that's at least as well known for its strategies as it causes. As of this year PETA celebrates its 30 year anniversary, the group has been enormously successful, in its use of celebrating power and out spoken blunt publicity in making a firm stand against fur. Among all the Supporters this organization has gathered over the decades, they also have gathered enemies such as Vogue editor Anna Wintour, which PETA ever so nicely splashed blood-colored red paint on. the Virginia-based nonprofit deserves much earned credit in the 30% decrease in mink imports in 2009 versus 2008, 40% down in the demand for alligator and crocodile hides used in handbags and boots. PETA has also put a helping hand by stopping the selling of fur and hides in numerous retailers. Among some of the retailers are the international Stockholm-based H&M, have vowed to stop selling exotic skins, such as snake, lizard, alligator, crocodile, kangaroo, shark and stingray. The Internet retail Overstock.com has vowed to stop selling fur. L.A-based retail chain Forever 21 now only sells faux fur. Just as the retailers such designers as Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger have pledged to stop using fur in their jackets, boots and handbags. PETA has made a hug difference in the miss treatment of animals in the fashion industry and shall be extremely rewarded for their fine fight.

The Model Image For the Past 100 years

On March 23, 2010 A fundraiser for Harris Center, an institute at Massachusetts General Hospital that focuses on the treatment and prevention of eating disorders was held. Fashion Designer Michael Kors, Supermodel Natalia Vodianova and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, were some of the guest speakers that took there stand on the matter of models that battle with there health, weight and eating disorders. Not only was the models health also being discussed but also the age limit that the fashion industry needs to in force. That night Kors publicly announced that he will only use models above the age of 16 and that until they are 18 while need extra supervision. Since 1960's slowly Like the example of Twiggy a models weight has slowly shrinking and the ages of the models have been going done. At first these things were rarely seen but now they are completely common and is becoming a huge problem. The fashion council three years ago put out guidelines for healthy eating. Now that more people are publicly displaying that young sickly looking models is a big problem more designers are taking action and using more realistic healthy women that are adults and have a normal weight.

International Fashion House

Lena Hoschek is a fashion designer from Austria, who study fashion design in Vienna. Her fall-winter 2010 collection was shown in Berlin at a Mercedes Fashion Week Show. Her collection was mostly different shades of skin tones with a statement of red either in the cloths or on the models lips. Hoscheks style seems to me to be very vintage old fashion style.

The fashion Rocks is not just an ordinary fashion show, it is one that combines the world or music and fashion to create one unique and intriguing show. First started in London for the Prince's trust fund that help unprivileged Young people in the UK. Has now traveled to different locations being broadcast world wide and to multiple locations. The last one was held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. For that show the line up was Diddy for Versace, Mariah Carey for Calvin Klein, Ciara for Givenchy, Grace Jones for Marc Jacobs, Estelle for Lenny and many more. It one fashion show that I have found to be extremely entertaining.
